The Limousin region is situated in central France. It is a mainly rural area and outside the major cities it is like turning back time to a quieter and sedate way of life.

In the north of the region – there are two departments Creuse and Haute-Vienne. The “wetlands” to the north of Limoges is defined by the many lakes – perhaps as many as 1000 – some with artificial beaches and plenty of activities for residents and tourists. Rivers wind their way through gently undulating countryside and into sleepy market towns. An area full of traditions; if you love the outdoors you are going to like the Limousin: fishing, rambling, sailing or just enjoying a quiet coffee in one of the market town cafes. You will return home after your holiday relaxed and wanting to return again!

To the south the Correze is more rugged as it climbs up onto the Massif Central. The south-west borders Dordogne and is popular.

In the Summer, there are many sunny days and warm temperatures. The region is green so expect some rain – winters can be cold, wet and sharp but the long summers are a delight.

Access is good. There are flights to Limoges airport and the A20 motorway runs north-south across the region – linking the channel ports in the North and the Med coast to the south. From Calais, you can drive to the region in about 6 hours.

The Manche channel coast offers long sandy beaches with many rock pools which children love so much.
Etretat is the prettiest seaside resort of the so called Cote d’Albatre between Le Havre and Dieppe and is flanked by dramatic chalk cliffs. However, there are many charming coves and beaches between there and Fecamp.

The spectacular famous Mont St. Michel guards the boundary between Normandy and Brittany and is certainly a must to visit. This ancient Christian Church and fortress is built on rocks where the Archangel Michael is said to have appeared in 708 AD. The crowds of today however must rival the scenes of the ancient pilgrimages except that today’s traveler arrives by car and coach instead of by foot and mule. It is best to arrive either early or late in the day in the summer months of July and August, or choose quieter times of the year.

The area is also renowned for its gastronomy!

Paris is the capital of France and the country’s largest city.

It is situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region. Paris is located in the north-bending arc of the river Seine and includes two islands, the Île Saint-Louis and the larger Île de la Cité, which form the oldest part of the city.

Paris is the most popular tourist destination in the world, with over 30 million foreign visitors per year. There are numerous iconic landmarks among its many attractions, along with world famous institutions and popular parks.

Famous Landmarks:
Three of the most famous Parisian landmarks are the twelfth century Notre Dame cathedral on the Île de la Cité, the nineteenth century Eiffel Tower, and the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe. The Eiffel Tower was a “temporary” construction by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Universal Exposition but the tower was never dismantled and is now an enduring symbol of Paris. It is visible from many parts of the city as are the Tour Montparnasse skyscraper and the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur on the Montmartre hill.

Must Visit:

Place de la Bastille a district of great historical significance, not only for Paris, but for the whole of France. Because of its historical value the square is often used for political demonstrations, including the massive anti-CPE demonstration of March 2006.

Champs-Élysées (8th arrondissement, right bank) is a seventeenth century garden-promenade turned avenue connecting the Concorde and Arc de Triomphe. It is one of the many tourist attractions and a major shopping street of Paris.
