The country offers splendid scenery, wonderful cuisine and a host of other benefits that make it one of the most popular places in Europe to move to.  If you are planning to relocate to France, there are a few things that you should keep in mind that could make your move a bit easier:

  • Employment – Employment in France offers a number of private enterprises. The government does still maintain quite a grip on major industries such as banking and insurance, transport and others but they are beginning to loosen their hold a bit. There is a slight unemployment rate that is a bit higher than in other countries, but that too is beginning to improve.
  • Culture – Understand that the French culture is a bit different than in other areas of the world. There are a number of religious and cultural elements ingrained throughout the country and the love of architecture and arts is experienced throughout France. The country has freedom of speech that has attracted many outspoken figures throughout the years.
  • State Benefits – The country does offer a very lucrative benefit program and is very protective of its work force. Those without jobs are very well compensated for their lack of income and income support as well as maternity pay offer many benefits. Because of the state benefits, many foreign nationals feel very comfortable living and working in France. In spite of the unemployment rates currently, many feel comfortable knowing that the state benefits will provide them with an income in the event that find themselves without a job.
  • Property – Property prices in France are much lower than in other areas of Europe. Many have relocated to the country simply because the cost of living is more affordable. Inner city living is a bit more expensive than country living and older housing tends to be a bit less expensive than newer homes. There are differences in housing costs depending on the region you are planning to move to but you will have no worries of finding something that is affordable no matter what your current housing budget may be.
